DRAMA WORKSHOPS COLOMBIA 2025

This is some text inside of a div block.

For five consecutive days, from August 25 to 29, 2025, the YumaKids Foundation held theater workshops led by Catalan volunteer Òscar Orbezo i Comí, an actor, screenwriter, and theater director, in eight educational institutions in the city of Ibagué (Colombia), two of which are located in rural areas. Each of these institutions offered this activity, aimed at fostering expression, creativity, and active participation, offering 364 students a recreational space for meeting and collective construction.

The Schools whose students participated in this project are:

Institución Educativa Técnica Modelia

Colegio San Francisco, Sede Vereda la Tigrera - Rural area-

Santiago Vila Escobar

IE. Raíces del Futuro

San Pedro Alejandrino

Simón Bolívar Ibagué

San Luis Gonzaga

Sede Principal, Vereda San francisco -Rural area-

The workshop gave students the opportunity to discover new ways to be happy, share, and create as a community through theatrical play and imagination. This experience strengthened their autonomy by allowing them to make decisions on stage and trust their own abilities. Furthermore, theatrical practice motivated them to overcome fears and boldly embark on new, constructive adventures in their lives. Art thus became a valuable tool for personal and social growth, recognized by the students themselves as a means to explore their inner selves, express their emotions, and strengthen bonds with their classmates.
