Throughout the year, YumaKids led the “Rebuild Life” program, offering workshops for at-
risk teens to help them envision future projects. In October 2017, a photography training
workshop was held in collaboration with Ágora Images (Barcelona), led by photographer
Santi Núñez and other professionals such as psychiatrist Inés Andreu Borrás and
filmographer Álex Rey.
Ibagué, marked by structural vulnerability, had a youth unemployment rate of 27.2% as of
March 2025. These figures underscore the urgent need for initiatives that address mental
health deterioration.
Art therapy has proven to be effective in emotional healing by reducing stress, improving
self-esteem, and allowing non-verbal emotional expression. YumaKids workshops
demonstrated community impact by fostering self-awareness and resilience.
In 2017, the Foundation reached adolescents in five schools and formed key partnerships
with Ágora Images and Universidad del Tolima, blending art, education, and mental health
into a long-term social project.
In 2018, the Foundation expanded its work, tailoring its programs for vulnerable rural
communities and inviting collaboration from educators, civil society, and local authorities.
YumaKids believes that when adolescents are equipped with the right tools, they become
active agents in their own development.
