YumaKids presents child violence prevention work at FEPAL International Conference

This is some text inside of a div block.

Under the theme "Desecrated Childhoods: Raising Awareness to Prevent", the conference
explored child sexual violence from clinical and social perspectives. Psychiatrist and
psychoanalyst Asunción Soriano represented YumaKids, showcasing the foundation
community-based, school-centered work over the past seven years in Colombia.

She focused on the foundation’s educational-artistic approach, particularly the *Behind the
Door* Theatre Forum—based on real-life testimonies and recognizable situations. The play
was performed in seven Colombian schools, with over 400 students and 100 adults
participating.

Each performance ends with an open dialogue among actors, professionals, and attendees,
aiming to break the silence and foster support networks through active listening and critical
thinking. This participatory and transformative approach was highly praised at the event.
Colombia recorded over 8,200 sexual crimes against minors from January to August 2023.
The ICBF reported 11,135 cases in the same period—an average of 57 forensic exams per
day. These numbers reflect the urgent need for sustained, community-integrated actions.
Following the event, YumaKids was invited by the Psychoanalytic Association of Buenos
Aires (APdeBA) to present its replicable theatrical-educational model in new contexts.
